Happy Birthday Charlee!!

So yesterday was Charlee's 1st birthday - I know, it's silly to celebrate dog's birthdays, but I did a party for Mansin's 1st also, so I thought I better do the same for Charlee. I don't do this every year, I'm not that crazy, I figure the first year is good enough. So we had a little party at the animal hospital where I work. I got a "dog cake" - for the dogs to eat from Three Dog Bakery (link to their page in my favorite links) - with her name on it.

I also put a birthay hat on her - left over from Mansins birthday - and let her dig into her cake first. After she had taken a good chunk out of the side, I pulled it up and cut some slices out and gave them to all the other dogs that were there - it was a very messy, slobbery good time.

Charlee also got a present from one of her dog "friends" Astro - pictured above - here are some pictures of her playing with her new, rather large and PINK, stuffed, squeaking toy...sigh...thanks Denise!

Blast from the...past?

So, I was up this morning messing around on the computer - yes, it's Saturday morning and I have been up since 7:30 am thanks to the snoring husband - Anyway, so I found out about this hilarious website http://yearbookyourself.com/ - So I decided since I have always wanted to live in the 50's era, that I would see what I would have LOOKED like in that era - so here is what I would have looked like in 1956 - no laughing please - I did enough of that for everyone...and I decided to do Kevins and his is 1950 - I like his the most I think!

Tell me what you think mom??? Would we have been friends??? HAHA

A New "Friend"

So, recently I have come to realize that we sort of have a new house guest...ok, not really IN the house - more like outside. Every week for the last few weeks...always on a Sunday, no less...I have come home to find a little gecko (Not like the Geico one) outside our front door - he just kind of stares at us and I leave him alone - Kevin says I should try to catch him and I'm thinking what for? He sits outside and probably eats the moths that dive bomb my head every day - no thank you, he can stay where he is. Just a few days ago I realized that he is living in our always lit front porch (ghetto) light. Perfect place for him I figure - always warm and always has food flyin around. So sorry for those of you who don't like "slimy" lizards and things, but here are some pictures of our little non-animated Geico gecko.

Camping at Bryce Woodlands Utah

Over the Labor Day weekend, Kevin and I, with the dogs in tow, headed up the mountain above Cedar City UT. Kevin's family has property up there with a trailer so we decided to have a nice cool weekend along with Kevin's dad Larry. We got there late Friday night - almost hitting a few deer along the way - and stayed until Sunday evening. Saturday was a beautiful day but Sunday started out rainy and chilly - 65 degrees...That's chilly to us! The dogs, who dislike the rain, sat it out under the dry-ness of the shelter...

Once the rain let up, Mansin was back hunting for chipmunks - He remembered, from LAST YEAR, where he saw one and everytime we let him out of the trailer he ran to the exact same spot as last year searching for the ever out of reach rodent...sigh, he is not stupid, but can be quite dumb at times...

Charlee, who of course follows Mansin everywhere, couldn't quite figure out the excitement - she got tired of running to that spot very quickly!

Later we decided to give the dogs some good exercise. So Kev and I headed out on the 4-wheeler, our dogs running beside and in front of us - Mansin always stayed ahead and to the left, Charlee however thought that it would be fun to ALWAYS get to close to the tires and then cross in front of the bike, nearly giving me a heart attack every time!

When we stopped to rest I thought it would be nice to get a picture of both of the dogs and Kevin on the 4-wheeler...well it was a nice thought, but in the end only Charlee would stay on - and LOVED every minute of it!

We had a great relaxing weekend and are not ready to go back to the daily grind of the work week! Here are a few more "random" pictures...
