Death of a Pink Dog

So Charlee's pink dog that she got for her birthday in September is now...dead...Here is how you sufficiently kill a stuffed dog according to Charlee.

First - shake it around a few times until the "guts" start to come out.

Second - Start pulling on the head/neck area until almost detached.

Third - pull out more guts for good measure.

Fourth - bite its butt and bend it in half to break is back.

Finally - roll around in the guts and make sure it is completely dead - when it is, smile at your mom in triumph.

Wrangler's Hockey!

So my mom is out visiting us this week so we decided on Saturday night to take her to a Las Vegas hockey game. We were really close to the ice but part of our view was blocked by the teams boxes or whatever you call them. There was a fight right after the National Anthem which I thought was so hilarious and they let them fight it out for a few minutes. There were several "almost" fights thru out the rest of the game but the refs wouldn't let them fight - I was a little disappointed. One guy got checked so hard into the glass right in front of us and ended up getting his nose broke and was bleeding everywhere. It was AWESOME. haha So here are two pictures of the first fight and a few other random ones - The big green guy is our mascot.

Hiking In Red Rock

It's been awhile since I posted so I am going to try to catch up. This last weekend was so beautiful here we decided to go out on Saturday and get some good exercise. We have hiked at Red Rock many times before with Mansin, but this was Charlee's first trip. She did really well but was a little scared to jump down off of higher places. We hiked to Calico Tanks which ended up being about 3 hours to get there and back. We stopped for a bit at the end because there is a "pond" at the end and we let the dogs kind of run free and play in the water. (Which I would have never done had I looked at what kind of gross things were swimming around in it)

We had a really great time and were very worn out afterwards but it is something we will be doing more of before the weather gets to hot!

C-Section!!!

Today during my lunch at the storage, I stopped by the animal hospital to drop off some stuff. When I went to the back the girls told me I was just in time to help with an emergency c-section on a little Yorkie. She was pregnant with 3 puppies and while in labor the first pup got stuck in the birth canal and died. So they had to do the surgery to get the other 2 out - the first one came out SO tiny and Jen (the tech) and I got to work on her. The second one was twice as big and the other doctor there started working on her. So, our little girl started out pretty good and we could feel a faint heartbeat, but she still was not breathing. After several minutes of working on her we lost her heartbeat...I was very determined that this tiny girl would live! So I started doing tiny chest compressions and CPR and we finally got her to take a breath! I almost dropped her I was so shocked and excited!!! So we kept working on her to keep her breathing and keep her warm and she started to get squirmy and breathing alot better on her own! I could have cried I was SO excited! Anyway, it's been a long time since I have helped with this kind of situation and I forget how much I LOVE my job at the animal hospital! So here are a couple of pictures after our little girl started breathing good on her own. Sadly the other bigger little girl, although she had a heartbeat, never took a breath. But I was still very happy to have helped save one of the little pups!

Chazden's Birthday

So this is a little late but I still had to post it. Cherie's son Chazden just turned 3 and on the 3oth they had a party for him at a place called Pump It Up. It's a great place for kids and they get to play for hours on those blow up toys with the slides...anyway, afterwards, they had pizza and cake for him. Most kids I know are SO shy when people sing happy birthday to them - Not Chaz - he sang right along and was THRILLED at the attention. So I took a video and told his parents I would post it - so enjoy!

My Dog Tries To Be A Hero...

So Saturday last week, the animal hospital called me to see if I could bring Mansin in to donate some blood to a sick dog. He had done this 2 times before and has saved the dogs by giving his blood and or plasma. First they test the blood to make sure it is compatible (Dogs only have 2 blood types so your chances are 50/50) Then they give him a sedative then put him under anesthesia because they take the blood from the neck vein.

Anyway, it's kind of scary for me every time, but he had done the last 2 with no problems. Well, this time was not so smooth - after putting the tube in his throat he started to vomit. The doctor didn't seem concerned so I tried no to be either. (But still pretty scary) So once he was completely under, they started to take the blood which took very little time and then started to wake him up. He took FOREVER to wake up and was very jumpy and kept trying to get up and walk - which would have been hilarious to see him try but he probably would have ended up breaking something...Anyway, I just wanted to show what a hero my dog tries to be even though sadly this little dog that he was trying to save did not make it. He had a bleeding disorder where his body was attacking his platelets and no amount of donor blood could help him out. Thanks anyway Mansin for trying to be the hero!

Late Christmas Post

So, like most of my friends...I am having a hard time keeping up with what I need to post - SO, here are all my "past due" photos and stuff.

So Christmas Eve Eve, we decided...kind of quickly...to buy a new car. Kevin had an old Ford Ranger that has been falling apart and we didn't really want to slide into the Idaho snowstorms in my Civic - SO we went to St. George (Kev knows the dealer) and looked at an '08 Ford Expedition - it had 17,000 miles which was a little high, but we really liked it and the benefits of 4WD are always nice...Yes, I know we don't really need it in Vegas, but it's also nice to take to the sand dunes or camping or whatever. So, we got it then headed to Idaho the next day.

So Christmas morning, in Idaho, we wake up to 9 inches of snow - we were very happy for the new car at that point. The one concern I did have regarding the snow, was my dogs. If anyone knows anything about them, they are woosies. Charlee won't even go outside when its raining, let alone inches of snow - well needless to say I was totally wrong! Charlee (and Mansin) busted around in the snow like it was candy! This video is taken the day after Christmas in my mom's front yard.

Also, for my poor desert rat husband...he was a great sport and shoveled all the snow in the driveway for my mom and posed for a few pictures - proof of work! haha

We had a great time at my mom's surrounded by family. We had a white elephant type game the Sunday after christmas and had a great time. Here are some pics of everyone.

My sister Kris got presents for me, my mom and my other sister Lesa - all similar style/color bracelets - kind of like when you get friendship bracelets but this is like mother/daugher/sister bracelets - It was so sweet and I love mine - I wear it all the time!

We had such a great time and it was SO great to see all of my family and friends again! Hopefully we will make it back again very soon! We love you guys and miss you already!
